VINYL COVER PROJECT FOR NEW SINGLE
This project was a for my Professional Design Practice Studio, where we needed to redesign a pre-existing album cover to create a new vinyl cover. The single I was designing a vinyl cover for is called “Night Drive.” This song is off of the EP album “PHO” by Ari Lennox, which is considered to be part of the R&B/Soul genre of music. This specific song is an experimental R&B song that explores and incorporates funk, soul and jazz styles. My concept for my redesign is to capture the feelings of experimental jazz and soul while giving a handmade vintage touch a vinyl. I focused on the literal depiction of a night drive and the slow tempo of the song, but incorporated the colors and feel of the funk within the song.
