SENIOR CAPSTONE PROJECT
For my Senior Capstone Project, our graduating class was tasked with the singular word ‘After’ to conceptualize and exhibit in the university gallery. In contemplating the theme for our senior capstone show, ‘After,’ I chose to delve into the exploration of the afterlife, specifically focusing on the grieving process. This led to the creation and design of Douleur, a company with a mission centered around providing essential tools and support during the grieving journey. Douleur, derived from the French word for grief, aims to educate and comfort viewers in a creative, inspirational, and positive manner. Through informative items, users can navigate the different stages of grief, gaining insights into how to handle, prepare for, and process intense emotions. Douleur also facilitates grief support groups, offering assistance to individuals navigating this intricate process. As a welcoming gesture, each first-time guest at group meetings receives a Douleur tote bag containing a selection of aromatherapy gifts designed to nurture mental health during challenging times. Additionally, these aromatherapy gifts and tote bags are available for separate purchase, providing a wholesome and uplifting surprise for oneself, a friend, or a family member experiencing a time of loss.
